Sheet Materials

Plywood is a wood-based panel product consisting of layers of veneers glued together, with the direction of the grain in adjacent layers usually at right angles. Strong and durable, plywood has a variety of uses from roofing and flooring to hoarding and walling.

We keep a wide range of ply & sheet materials in stock - this was made possible by a 3500 sq. ft. expansion during the summer of 2008. P5 Chipboard flooring from Caber & Kronospan are kept in large quantities along with OSB2 & OSB3 (aka Sterling Board). Other popular materials are structurally graded WBP shuttering ply, Far Eastern hardwood ply, marine & birch plys. MDF sheets and tanalised ply are also available from stock. Ply sizes include 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm 18mm and 25mm but most sizes can be obtained at a few days notice.

Southern Timber deliver from their Ipplepen, Newton Abbot base throughout Torbay,Teignbridge & the South Hams to Exeter & Plymouth districts and to many other parts of Devon & Cornwall. Larger consignments have been made to developers & contractors in Bristol & Avon, South Wales, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey. Please contact us for quotes on pack quantities.

MDF

MDF is environmentally sound, all our stocked brands - Caberwood, Kronospan & Medite - have FSC credentials.

Birch Ply

Finnish BB and BB/CP grade plywoods have excellent surfaces & attractive visual appearance suitable for high-end applications.

Tanalised Ply

Tanalised ply is used in constructional applications where there is going to be contact with moisture

Structural Ply

This structural ply (aka shuttering or sheathing) uses WBP glues and is best suited for use as whole sheets

OSB (aka Sterlingboard)

OSB2 & OSB3 represent a low cost, versatile wood-based sheet material for timber frame & constructional use.

Chipboard flooring

P5 graded 18mm & 22mm T&G chipboard flooring sheets from Caber & Kronospan ideal for humid & moist applications

Marine Ply

Marine plywood uses untreated tropical hardwood veneers that have higher levels of resistance to fungal attack

Phenolic Ply

Plywood finished with a phenolic resin impregnated film on both faces â�� gives improved resistance to moisture & fungi

Hardwood Ply

Chinese hardwood & Far Eastern hardwood faced ply are stocked to provide a range of value for money ply for different uses.

Neatmatch

Neatmatch made from MDF is manufactured to give the appearance of tongue & groove boarding.

Plasterboard

Plasterboard is avaialable in 9.5mm & 12mm, square edge or tapered in various sizes & specifications for dry-lining studwork partitions.

Worktops

Range of solid wood worktops including Beech, Oak & Iroko. Traditional use in kitchen, or create work or study space in home office
