Sika bonding adhesives are widely recognised as the premier products for laying wooden floors directly onto concrete and old ceramic tiles. SikaBond T2, T52 and T54 are suitable for most types of timber and engineered wood floors, with the elastic properties of the adhesives absorbing the stresses generated by the flooring. These stresses are mainly caused by the flooring reacting to changes in humidity by increasing/decreasing moisture content and then correspondingly changing its dimensions. Sika Primer MB is used where necessary to consolidate loose surfaces e.g. concrete and provide a moisture barrier.
SikaBond T54 is a one part elastic adhesive for wood flooring. It can be used with solid and engineered wood floors, parquet flooring and chipboard.
The key feature is that the elastic nature of the adhesive reduces the stress between the substrate level and the wooden flooring. It is suitable for sub-floor heating and also helps to reduce the sounds from foot traffic.
Supplied in 6kg and 13kg tins the coverage will depend on substrate, but Sika quote 700-900 g per sq. metre. This gives a yield of 6.7m2 to 8.5m2 for a 6kg tin and 14.4m2 to 18.6m2 for the 13kg tin.
