Ash flooring

Our Ash is imported as kiln-dried sawn boards, which are then regularised and then machined with a central tongue & groove here in Devon. Using a central tongue gallows the board to be used either way up according to personal taste.

We normally try and keep a selection of board face sizes of 162mm and 182mm but availability can vary considerably. Ash is very durable with surface hardness and density very similar to oak; the appearance of the boards can be very light. As with oak boards the boards will go slightly darker over time.

Ash flooring usually has quite a distinct grain and a high colour contrast making the boards quite striking - they present quite a busy appearance.

To minimise movement it is recommended that the boards are stored on-site for at least 14 days prior to laying.
