Carcassing - 38mm timbers
Carcassing - 38mm timbers
Most 38mm timber carcassing is home grown because it is normally used for building or decking applications, where there is no need for structural grading of the timber. All Southern Timber 38mm carcassing is pressure treated, normally in green Tanalith E, to a minimum Hazard Class 3 for prolonged external use. It is strongly recommended that any cross cuts are treated with two coats of Ensele end-grain preservative treatment. At Southern Timber we keep 38mm thick timber in three widths 150mm, 200mm and 225mm (approx. 6", 8" & 9") The 38mm x 150mm boards provide a useful decking board where customers want a more “rustic” appearance than provided by planed boards with their elaborate profiles. All three boards are often utilised as ridge boards in pitched roof constructions, and the options of 150mm, 200mm & 225mm – prove flexible for constructing raised vegetable and flower beds.
