Smooth Deckboards
Smooth Deckboards
Both these smooth softwood deckboards are machined from the same quality redwood timber; this redwood exhibits tighter growth rings and is denser than the timber used for fencing and carcassing products.ex-32mm Smooth Deckboards
In 2009 we introduced a 32mm x 100mm smooth board (finish size 27mm x 95mm) which are ideal for smaller decking projects. These boards are normally stocked at 3.6m and 4.8m - many customers have used them for decking skirts and handrails as well.
ex-38mm Smooth Deckboards
Smooth profile deckboards are kept as 38mm x 125mm (finish size 32mm x 120mm) and these are now stocked in greater quantities than previous years. Lengths are random, usually packs are kept at 3.6 metres and 4.8 metres but sometimes other lengths may have to be substituted.
The 38mm smooth boards are very versatile, they can be used to frame decking areas that use 38mm profiled boards – they can be positioned on edges where there changes in level or to break up large decking areas into smaller sections. Some customers utilise them as capping for small walls, they can also be used as a 'chunky' handrail in balustrade installations.
Deckboard machining and Decking care
All of our deckboards are imported as sawn redwood blanks then machined and pressure treated in England. This pressure treatment, Tanalith E, starts as a light green but mellows to a light honey brown after being exposed to a few weeks sunlight; after 18-24 months this may change to a grey colour which is perfectly normal. Colours can be maintained and enhanced where required by using Osmo or Liberon decking oils.
