Cedar Parallel chamfered

The parallel chamfered boards are machined so that each board partially covers the adjoining board but allowing for dimensional movement and the boards contour encourages water to run off quickly. This board is also sometimes known as splayed or open-joint cladding.

Southern Timber supplies all cedar cladding in grade “No. 2 Clear & Better” Western Red Cedar. This grade means that only minor imperfections are allowed and the boards are very stable and naturally insect & rot resistant.

Boards are ex 22mm x 150mm and finish at 17mm thick with a cover of approximately 130mm. Board lengths are variable but the majority are usually in the range of 3.6m to 4.5m (12’ to 15’). As with all cedar the colour from board to board varies from a pale pink to a richer reddy colour. Boards should be fixed with stainless steel or bronze alloy fixings – the natural tannins in the board will corrode iron, galvanised and aluminium fixings.
