Post & Rail
Post & Rail
This description tends to be used on fencing installations comprised of solid timber rails used around field and woodland boundaries. Post and rail forms a solid boundary fence with good visibility through the fence, and providing versatility by the option to add stock fencing (wire mesh) to make the fence livestock proof. Now often used as equestrian fencing especially in Horse Sand Schools with a 200mm x 47mm timber as a gravel board. The normal specification is 75mm x 125mm posts at 1.8 metres or 2.1 metres sunk to a depth of 450mm into the ground. Rails are normally 38mm x 88mm at 3.0m, 3.6m or 4.8 metres length. Two or three rails may be used depending on whether any, and what type of livestock, are involved.
For more industrial fences the yard stocks include 75mm x 150mm posts and longer sections plus a range of cross-sectional timber for rails. Any contractors tendering for large runs of fencing are welcomed to phone, fax or email with the tender specification and we will price accordingly. More unusual sizes can usually be sourced within a reasonable time scale.
