Redwood joinery

Southern Timber obtains joinery timber from a number of specialised importers selected for their quality of product, experience, reliability and purchasing policies. All our redwood joinery is sawn and kiln dried before being imported.

Redwood is a pale yellow to reddish brown wood; the light wood mellows with age. It is popular for joinery because the timber works easily and well with both hand and machine tools. Capable of producing a smooth, clean finish - can be glued, stained, varnished and painted satisfactorily.

We keep Scandinavian unsorted grade redwood joinery, which is a combination of the four best grades of timber graded for appearance on the better face and both edges. Grading also takes into account the number and size of knots, plus any other allowable defects – rejected boards being used for lower grades of joinery. Redwood joinery is ideal for planing and machining to produce doors, stair parts and furniture etc.

Sawn Redwood joinery timbers are kept in the following thicknesses:

   ●  38mm thick x 225mm, assorted lengths
   ●  50mm thick x 225mm, assorted lengths
   ●  63mm thick x 225mm, assorted lengths
   ●  75mm thick x 225mm, assorted lengths
