PhotonFoil is a thin, reflective composite insulation and represents a value-for-money option for loft conversions, extensions and re-roofing projects. Constructed as an excellent vapour and air leakage barrier PhotonFoil has a high density glasswool core, encased in very low emissivity outer layers. It provides a cost-effective alternative to Triso.
The product is produced by Thermic Technology, a British-based company specialising in the design and manufacture of thin reflective insulation for the professional and self build markets, they have been innovating in this new market since 2006. The result is a more viable, everyday option for loft conversions, extensions, new builds and re-roofing .
The use of high density glasswool at its core gives PhotonFoil a number of benefits over the polyester based multifoils:
Better thermal performance (lower) than polyester based multifoils;
Better fore resistance with an A1 non-combustible core;
Insulation that’s easier to cut than traditional multifoils and screws without snagging;
Uses established glasswool lambda values from EU testing in its Calculations;
Achieves a 0.18 U-value when used together with 130mm glasswool/65mm of PIR.
Thermic also offer another product, PhotonAir, which combines the high performance insulation with Klober Permo air underlay for use on the cold side of the building in walls and roofs.
