For many applications an exterior ply is required that will deal with variations in moisture. At Southern Timber we purchase a quality European Ply, Wisa Spruce, which is then sent for pressure treatment with Tanalith E.
What is Wisa Spruce ply?
WISA Spruce plys are bonded with weather resistant glue according to EN 314-2/class 3 Exterior. It is important to remember that the panels can have dimensional changes due to changes in the air humidity. WISA recommend leaving 1 mm/m expansion gaps between panels in the installation.
Tanalised WISA Spruce Ply Applications
By pressure treating whole sheets of WISA ply with Tanalith E the effects of moisture are reduced. Where this ply is cut into smaller sections the edges should be treated with a suitable preservative to prevent the ingress of moisture and de-lamination of the ply.
Typical applications for Tanalised Ply would include a wide range of constructional applications where there is going to be contact with moisture - stable partitions and roofs; agricultural buildings; roofing and flooring, trailer beds, silage clamps etc.
Tanalised Wisa Spruce Ply is normally stocked in:
9mm thick, sheet size 2440mm x 1220mm (8' x 4')
12mm thick, sheet size 2440mm x 1220mm (8' x 4')
18mm thick, sheet size 2440mm x 1220mm (8' x 4')
Whole packs of other sizes and thicknesses can be obtained to special order, depending on ply thickness you will be looking at a minimum quantity of 50 sheets.
