Why open a Monthly Account?
Southern Timber’s Monthly Account helps with cash flow, particularly useful with larger projects where you may be billing your customer on a monthly basis. It also allows your employees, or colleagues, to collect materials on your behalf. We do need to know though who is allowed to collect on your behalf.
Many of our regular Trade customers operate a monthly Credit Account. This allows them to collect or order goods from the Yard and then settle with one payment by card, cheque or BACS transfer at the end of the month. Please note that Accounts cannot be opened instantly.
Making an Account Application
Opening a Monthly Account couldn’t be easier. You will need to complete an application form with details including name, address, telephone numbers and two account references from other suppliers where you already have a monthly account history.
Some national companies will not give references, usually smaller local independents will. If you are unable to get a reference from any suppliers, or you are a new tradesman then you can complete a bank reference form which allows us to speak directly to you bank. Please be aware that some banks may make a charge for this service.
What happens next?
Once we receive your completed application we will contact your references. Their response time varies dramatically; we have found that if you inform them we will be seeking a reference that it can speed things up. Many firms need to be reminded two or three times.
When the references are received a simple credit check is made against the details you have given us and then the results are assessed against your requested credit limit. You will be informed by post when the account process has been completed.
