Newsletters 2015

1st November 2015

Southern Timber is located in Devon, half way between Exeter and Plymouth and in striking distance of much of Devon and Cornwall.  Our range of products is huge: carcassing; cladding; cedar; JamesHardie; Oak flooring; Ply, MDF & Chipboard; Celotex & other Insulation; decking; fencing and roofing – the list seems endless.  We are proud of our quality products, competitive prices and friendly service.

Our next day service means that even some Account customers only visit our Ipplepen yard sporadically, they sometimes miss out on our new products and special offers.  In February we ran a small feature on our grit strip (aka anti-slip) softwood boards, we also have yellow Balau hardwood deckboards machined with the same infill. This is why we produce a 2 page Newsletter every month, we send them out with monthly credit statements and also email subscribers. In addition to our standard products we source unusual timber profiles and more exotic timbers for those bespoke new builds and grand design projects.  These timber specials get a mention whenever we can.

We may be located down in Devon but we do get calls from all over the country. Transport costs can be a problem but we have been able to get some interesting products machined and moved around the country.  In March we sent a consignment of bespoke 100mm shadow gap profile  machined in Western Red Cedar and sent by Palletline to a development in Surrey.

August was interesting weather wise, we introduced anew “low slip” deck treatment from Ronseal, three coats of this decking oil finish produces the best grit finish we have seen. It seems that Autumn drew in early, much timber work started to move indoors with Elka flooring and solid wood worktops selling well.
