Goodbye 2017 and a warm welcome to the New Year 2018. It might not be very warm as yet, but now is the time to work on the projects you can enjoy as Easter approaches. It doesn’t matter whether you are the Tradesman undertaking an extension, or the end user planning the garden layout for Spring we should have something for you.
Millboard Decking, Cedar Cladding and Namgrass Artificial Grass Installation 2017
This new building used a lot of structural timber and ply products but the most visible products used are the Parallel Chamfered Cedar Cladding, Coppered Oak Millboard composite decking and Enigma Namgrass. This new build was completed by Sam Tabiner in late 2017 and utilises these products to emphasise the quality of the design, build and materials used.
The Western Red Cedar cladding was specially machined using a mix of two cedar grades. This allowed a quality finish with 15% of lower grade boards included to keep costs down while adding a little more character to the overall cladding product. Cedar boards are popular for their stability; they are sap and resin free with a high tannin content making them naturally insect and rot resistant.
Millboard decking boards are composite products moulded from selected timbers and then hand coloured with authentic tones. This means Millboard deckboards replicate real timber but providing a more durable, almost maintenance-free surface with exceptional anti-slip properties.
The third product, Namgrass Artificial Grass, is becoming increasingly popular. Sam chose Namgrass Enigma to provide an attractive and usable surface in all weather! Artificial grass is ideal for pet owners who suffer from their pets muddy paw prints in their home, to those who want to enjoy their garden all year round. Namgrass isn’t just for gardens either; it can be used in playgrounds, roof terraces, commercial properties and public spaces.
Insulation, Celotex and Actis Hybris
We have had great feedback on the Actis Hybris product we introduced in December 2017. Hybris is a reflective insulation product based on a honeycomb structure. Hybris is available in 1145mm wide panels and in a range of thicknesses from 50mm to 205mm. Its high thermal performance is provided by a special structure composed of a large number of low emissivity cavities, protected from dust and excessive air movement. Moreover, the low emissivity external films provide additional thermal resistance, when associated with air cavities. It is also very quick and easy to install with virtually no mess.
Product prices in 2018
Whenever we re-open after Christmas there are a few manufacturers price changes we have to deal with. Several Suppliers have indicated a price increase of 6% in early January 2018, others are bringing in new pricing in the run up to Easter. The first small increases are from Millboard and we have had some price changes on – mainly decreases – on James Hardie HardiePlank Cladding products, please ensure you others will follow
