These JamesHardie MetalTrims are manufactured from high quality coated aluminium, and using these internal and external metal corners produces a more professional finish. The MetalTrim™ can be easily cut using a hacksaw or chop saw with a metal blade and are available in all 21 HardiePlank® cladding colours. Both internal and external trims are available in 3.0 metre lengths.
It is important to note that JamesHardie MetalTrim corner profiles can only be installed vertically. The MetalTrim should be cut with a suitable saw or shears, all cuts must be clean and straight. Care should be taken when cutting so that the trim is not damaged.
The trims should be secured with stainless steel nails, the heads should be flush – it is important that the nails are not overdriven or under-driven.
When metal trims are joined together care must be taken to align them correctly before fixing. In extreme exposure to sun there is the possibility of thermal expansion. When fixing the trim, fix the trim at the top first, then the base then fix at remaining locations. Maximum recommended spacing of fixings is 1.5 metres.
When installation is completed the plastic protection should be removed immediately otherwise it will become trapped behind the cladding and be difficult to remove. JamesHardie Touch-Up colours can be used to cover small scratches or chips
