Product Details
Half round rails can be used with square or round posts in fencing installations. Half round rails are relatively light in weight, low in price and the flat side of the rail provides a good fix to the post.
Typical uses for half round rails
These solid timber rails are most often used with fencing around field and woodland boundaries. They maintain reasonable visibility but help to keep the fence livestock proof. Most often used with 88mm and 106mm round posts. While the posts are tanalised they are not treated for ground contact. Therefore they are not suitable for cutting to short lengths as a substitute for log roll. They are also not intended to be used as a structural part of any retaining walls.
Rail details
Because they can be difficult to source we buy these rails from several different suppliers. For this reason the finish of the rail may vary from delivery to delivery. Most times they are 3.6 metres long with a chamferred end and machine truncated edges. Other times the rails are 3.66 metres long with a machined semi-circular profile. For agricultural fencing applications this should not cause any problems. However the change in appearance may be more obvious in a domestic garden.
