Quality European Oak engineered floorboards

Our Wessex oak floor boards are a quality engineered product, manufactured with European oak and machined in Europe. All our Wessex boards are FSC sourced, they are engineered to minimise movement in testing situations. They can be used in kitchens, utility rooms, rooms with under-floor heating and conservatories. Wessex engineered oak floorboards are also available with a UV oiled finish

Wessex engineered floorboard specification

Each Wessex engineered oak board is a single strip 180mm wide and end-matched, i.e. tongue & grooved on all four sides, to minimise wastage. These boards are machined in Europe with a generous 6mm oak wear layer and are laminated to a top quality 14mm birch ply. The boards are 20mm thick and can be used across timber joists as a structural floor.  The boards are carefully machined with micro-bevelled edges around both the long and short board edges.

Board pack sizes

Each pack of 1.584 square metres contains two boards at a full 2.2 metres, 2 boards at 1.1 metres, plus a 700mm and a 1500mm board to make up the pack. When ordering your floor please allow at least 10% for wastage. Likewise remember to place your order in square meters not the number of packs!

Floor Maintenance

Your oak floor boards should be stored on-site to condition before laying.   All wet trades work must have finished and all surfaces dried out. After fitting the Wessex will provide an attractive and hardwearing floor. Ideally to finish the installation these unfinished boards require a durable finish. We recommend using a quality Hardwax-Oil hybrid such as Osmo Polyx or Treatex Hardwax.  Finally some care needs to be taken with chairs and table legs to minimise the scratching of the floor.

Delivery of flooring from stock

You can normally collect packs of Wessex engineered floorboards from our Ipplepen Yard in Devon. If you are traveling a long distance then please phone to secure stock before departing. Alternatively we can normally deliver locally to your home or site within 24-48 hours (except weekends).

Delivery of flooring Special Orders

Our Wessex Suppliers indicate a 5-7 working days lead time on this unfinished oak flooring.  It can be ordered for collection from our Devon yard, or we can arrange delivery to your home in the mainland UK. Depending on the quantity ordered there may be a delivery charge.

The hauliers are used to delivery to Trade sites. They will need access for a delivery lorry, please advise of any possible access restrictions. This is a kerbside delivery so there will need to be an able-bodied person be on site, We cannot leave without the customer signing for the delivery.
