We stock solid birch plywood with a choice of seven different thicknesses. Birch Ply production is centered around Russia and the Northern Baltic, the Birch tree grows slowly in this region producing a denser wood which is most suited to plywood production. At Southern Timber we always try to source production from this region as opposed to Chinese Birch which can feature softwood combi core sandwiched between Birch faced veneers. This part of Europe has been largely covered with birch tree for hundreds of years and most of the production companies are PEFC or FSC certified.
Birch plywood comprises thin veneers of birch cross-banded and with face veneers that can be both long grain and cross grain. The construction leads to an attractive edge on the ply which contrasts with the very pale but consistent ply face.
This is a quality ply, it is durable and easily worked material that is available in a variety of sizes and grades. Birch Plywood has a wide variety of applications including interior and exterior use in building and construction, transport, packaging, furniture, joinery and many others.
