Our galvanised wire netting range is ideal for the garden and landscaping, whether its for a pet rabbit or keeping wildlife and pets off your prize veg! Ideal for poultry runs and enclosures, aviary and bird cages, crop guards, rabbit proofing and general purpose fencing.  We can order longer rolls of netting in a heavier gauge for commercial and larger scale landscaping applications

Galvanised Wire Netting terminology

First of all, our normal stock wires are chicken netting, sometimes referred to as chicken wire.   These are constructed using galvanised wire which is twisted to make a hexagonal pattern. Melded mesh has a square pattern on a square grid and is welded at each joint.  However, while welded mesh has several advantages it is significantly more expensive.

Because quality matters we stock netting manufactured from galvanised wire, then hot dip galvanised once again after manufacture to ensure double corrosion resistance.  In contrast cheaper wire netting is electro-galvanised and isn’t so durable. Also stocked are wire staples, fencing clips and pliers plus other accessories.

Finally, whether you have netting or mesh, the wire thickness is measured by gauge.   Therefore the lower the gauge number the thicker the wire is. So, 12 gauge uses 2.0mm thick wire and 22 gauge uses 0.7mm wire.  See list below for more details:

• 12 gauge = 2.0mm wire
• 15 gauge = 1.8mm wire
• 16 gauge = 1.6mm wire
• 18 gauge = 1.2mm wire
• 19 gauge = 1.0mm wire
• 20 gauge = 0.9mm wire
• 22 gauge = 0.7mm wire

The wire netting is manufactured to BS EN 10223-2 1998 Reverse Twist Specification.  Netting is manufactured from galvanised wire, then hot dip galvanised once again after manufacture to ensure double corrosion resistance.
