Pickering Log Cabin Style & Appearance
The Pickering Log Cabin is part of the Forest garden range of log cabins. This cabin is best described as a “corner” log with the doors and windows arranged on two sides. This layout makes the cabin ideal for a corner location. This flexibility is furthered by the fact that another cabin, the Ripon, is a mirror image of the Pickering.
The timber wall sections are made from 34mm machined logs. Both the floor and roof use 19mm tongue and groove (TGV) boards. The building is supplied with green/grey flecked rectangular felt shingles for the roof. The cabin is fitted with two opening windows, both of which are double glazed. Both doors are double glazed and fitted with mortise lock.
The cabin also features an integral storage area, part of the main structure but only accessed from an external door. The mortise locking door to the storage area is fully boarded for security.
It is vitally important that the log cabin is placed on pressure treated bearers to ensure the timbers are not in ground contact. These timbers are included as part of the log cabin kit. More details are contained in the building assembly instructions, which can be downloaded as a pdf from this page.
