DPM / DPC

Whether you are working on a house extension, new build or property renovation there must be some provision made for preventing from rising damp.  The most popular options are Damp Proof Membranes and Damp Proof Courses.

Damp Proof Membranes

Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) is designed to help protect structures from damp. DPM is typically made from a plastic material and a minimum thickness of 1200 gauge is recommended. Ideally you should check with a structural engineer for what the local authority recommends.

Damp Proof Courses

Damp Proof Coursing (DPC) performs a slightly different job function – it is designed to help combat damp inside walls, whereas DPM is normally used in floors. DPC and DPM are the most popular products used to counteract damp.  

EPDM

EPDM membranes are permanently flexible and have a life expectancy of over 50 years, moreover they do not support the growth of moss and mean an EPDM rubber roof keeps looking good for longer.  Because EPDM rubber requires minimal maintenance it should entail lower maintenance costs. However, the roof should be periodically checked for any damage from fallen debris.

Builders Plastic Sheet

General Purpose Builders Sheet is a jack of all trades trade polythene sheeting that is durable and impermeable to liquids.  It is useful painting and decorating purposes. We also supply heavy duty waste bags and rubble sacks.
