Tongue & Groove Softwood Floor

Demand for softwood flooring boards has reduced because of increased competition from heavy-duty vinyl, laminate, and engineered flooring. Even subfloors tend to be laid using P5 chipboard flooring. However, ex.25 x 150mm tongue & groove boards do have uses for upstairs and utility rooms and bathrooms. They are also used for floor renovations where a certain degree of board matching may be required.  

Other Softwood floors

We also stock untreated softwood boards known as PSE (planed square edge) which can be used for flooring. Available in ex-125mm, ex-150mm and ex-175mm widths the board widths can be mixed to obtain a more rustic effect. One word of caution, the boards may tend to shrink slightly and encourage draughts. 

Another softwood option is pitch-pine, very popular in late Victorian properties but supply is becoming increasingly intermittent. 

Fixing and finishing 

In addition to softwood based floor-boards, we offer a range of accessory products and flooring installation tools, including wood filler, varnishes and hard wax oils for softwood and hardwood products.  Adhesives include Osmo Advance and fixings include Tongue-Tite screws.
