Square Post and rails

Post and rail fences are often used for larger livestock, usually a simple rail fence without wire. Typically, these fences use 75mm x 125mm square-edged posts and two rectangular rails.

Square Posts

We keep good stocks of square posts for fencing, either 100mm x 100mm at 1.8 metre, or 2.4 metre height. Typically 1/3 of the post is dug into the ground. Posts include a UC4i graded option with incisions allowing greater preservative penetration. Customers can register for the Manufacturers's 15-year service life warranty on these UC4i posts.

Another option would be 75mm x 125mm posts at 1.8 or 2.1 metres. When using these “standard” posts we stock a range of bitumen based Post Savers, square post and rail fencing with increased longevity for the posts.

Rails are normally 38mm x 88mm for smaller livestock, or 47mm x 100mm for horses or cattle. A Square Post and Rail Fence can be reinforced with an extra rail, or galvanised stock-fencing. In terms of wire fencing, we keep stock-fencing in mild steel and high-tensile options. Barbed wire and plain wire are also stocked.

Gateposts and farm gates

Fields need gates for access, so we keep four sizes of gate posts including the top-selling 200mm x 200mm. Posts are 2.4m long and normally post holes are dug at 800mm depth.
