Solid Composite Decking Boards

While most composite deck boards are hollow there is a need for solid composite decking boards. Both NewTechWood and Armour Decking ranges include solid boards for deck edging, and for commercial decking installations.  

Board colours and sizes

Both the NewTechWood and Armour Decking composite decking boards feature grey and brown hues.  Stock colours in NewTechWood are Antique, Light Grey and Teak. The colours are chosen to match the ranges of hollow boards.  Armour Deck colours are Copper, Dark Steel and Light Steel.

Both brands of these solid composite deckboards have a finished size of 23mm thickness and 140mm in width. Board lengths are 3.6 metres. They are designed for use as stair treads or edge boards around the deck’s perimeter.  Fascia boards are also available as 15mm x 180mm in 3.6 metre lengths. Use of hollow boards is for domestic installations and use around the perimeter edges invalidates the warranty. 

Decking installation 

As with all decking installations the framework should be constructed to be a free draining and well ventilated. To improve drainage, a small slope (aka a fall) should be built into the decked surface.

Stainless screws with coloured heads can be sourced from stock. Any other fixings used must be suitable to provide a long service life outdoors i.e. stainless steel or specialist coated deck screws.
