Butt & Bead

Butt and Bead cladding (or Bead and Butt) is a traditional wooden profile but looks equally at home in a contemporary setting.  At Southern Timber this is one of our untreated wooden cladding options, we also stock pressure-treated cladding. Originally supplied as pine boards this cladding is now also available in MDF sheet format..

Redwood Pine Butt and Bead

This style of cladding features a tongue and groove profile with a small bead detail running along the TG profile joint.

Our wooden cladding is machined from Scandinavian timber, ex. 16mm x 150mm. The boards can be secret fixed through the tongue. Finish with Osmo Polyx Hard Wax oils in either clear or tinted.  

NeatMatch Butt & Bead

For those seeking a more durable solution, we also offer moisture-resistant MDF Bead and Butt panels. Our MDF bead and butt provide the same classic look as traditional wooden cladding but with added resilience against moisture damage, making it more versatile.

These Bead & Butt MDF panels are available as Long Grain (2440mm x 1220mm) or Short Grain (1220mm x 2440mm). Long grain MDF panels are normally run to picture rail height, short grain MDF panels to dado rail height.

Distance Selling on cladding

Distance sales of the pine Bead & Butt are always quite buoyant. Devon and Cornwall are served mainly by our transport but we have also supplied London, Berkshire, Hampshire, and Oxford via our Courier Partners.
