Fixing the skirting

Hopefully, careful preparation has produced a perfectly level floor and flat walls. In the real world, there will be some undulations where the plasterboard has been secured to the uprights. Most tradesmen use a nail gun or Pinkgrip adhesive to fix the skirting to the wall.

Panel pins

Stainless steel or bright steel panel pins can be used for securing the new skirting, or architrave. There may still be some gaps between the skirting boards and walls, in which case you may need the silicon gun.

Finishings for Redwood Pine

For interior timber, we would normally select one of the Osmo Polyx finishes. We have listed approximately 20 options, in 750mm tins or larger if required. Remember that hardwax oil finishes (or varnish) will darken the new timber after application.

Osmo Polyx Raw is formulated to balance out the darkening of pine timber over time. This is achieved by including a small amount of white pigment. Alternatively, Osmo Tints has a Polyx product - White - which will accentuate the white tone even further.   

Osmo Brushes

The Osmo flat brushes have a flat, straight edge which improves the finish in corners and for edging. Osmo works best when applied very, very sparingly. Do not overload the bristles.
