Chiltern Log Cabin Style and Appearance
The Chiltern is a contemporary log cabin that could be used for a home office, summerhouse or dining area when the weather isn’t good enough for alfresco. The cabin specification is good, this log cabin is single glazed throughout and equipped with two large tilt and turn opening windows. Double glazing options are also available.
Building’s Construction
One of Forest's best selling Log Cabins, the Chiltern has an Apex roof configuration and a 4 metre by 3 metre footprint making it a compact but functional building. The fully glazed front aspect allows plenty of light in while the solid side and back walls maximise wall space for shelving and furniture or other equipment. This makes the Chiltern suitable for a variety of uses from home office to hobby room or a garden gym. Internal floor dimensions of 3.73m x 2.73m offer a useful 10.2 square metres (110 square feet) of accommodation.
This cabin is manufactured to a high standard with the two large front windows featuring a tilt and turn operation. All glazing is toughened glass and single glazed, with the option of double glazing. The doors can be located on the left or right of the front aspect as the cabin is built. Kiln dried 34mm smooth-planed interlocking logs are used for the walls and 19mm Tongue & Groove boards for both the roof and the floor.
As well as a choice of single or double glazing, three felt options are available: Polyester felt without underlay, a hi/weight (34kg per 10m) Polyester felt with underlay or Felt Shingles with underlay. The single glazed options are :

This model option is single glazed and has a 24kg weight Polyester felted roof with underlay. The felt has a polyester fibre base layer that makes it much stronger and more tear resistant than non-polyester grades. With more than three times the tear resistance of conventional mineral felt it has a life expectancy of up to 20 - 30 years when fitted correctly.
All deliveries are made by vehicles with a crane off-load facility and with an optional professional installation service. The log cabin must be built upon a solid and level surface such as a poured concrete base,

Supplied Finish & Painting
All the timber in this Log Cabin has been kiln dried to minimise warping and splitting. The floor bearers are also pressure treated with an Osmose timber preservative. The rest of the structure is supplied untreated therefore allowing the customer to choose their preferred brand and colours. We stock Osmo, Liberon and Ronseal products to treat products accordingly. When selecting your timber treatment finish you will find some low-priced finishes are for sawn timber only. Ensure your chosen finish is suitable for use with planed and sawn timber if required
Delivery & Assembly
The Log Cabins are delivered to kerbside and in flat pack format for the customer to assemble. All buildings are supplied with detailed Assembly Instructions which can be downloaded from this page in PDF format.
Forest Garden also offer a home assembly/installation (chargeable) service on all log cabins. Their nationwide service is conducted by trained Forest installation teams at an agreed date. However, their service is installation only and does not include laying bases, dismantling or disposal of existing buildings.
