Forest Elmley Log Cabin Style and Appearance
The Elmley Log Cabin is one of the larger models in the Forest Garden range of log cabins. Contemporary in appearance this 5 metre x 3 metre log cabin has a mono-pitch roof and uses 45mm logs. Both the doors and all three windows are double glazed.
Building’s Construction
The Forest Elmley is a mid sized Log Cabin with a 5m wide x 3m deep footprint and contemporary pent roof design. The Elmley has an impressive specification includes 45mm thick interlocking log walls, 19mm tongue and groove floor and roof. Both doors are double glazed, and there are two tilt and turn double glazed windows to the front. There is also a 3/4 length double glazed tilt and turn side window. This window can be positioned on either the left or right sidewall. All windows and doors are double glazed with toughened glass.
Overall dimensions are 5.24 meters x 3.36 metres (17 x 11 feet) and the front of the roof features a 36cm overhang for weather protection. The internal floor dimensions of 4.7m x 2.7m give a total floor area of 12.77 m? (137 square feet) which is a substantial room space big enough for lots of uses such as a as multi desk office, office and lounge, lounge/diner, hobby/games room or gym. With plenty of windows to allow natural light in this makes the Elmley log cabin a very usable and versatile extension to your living space.
Different roof felt options are available. This option is supplied with 24kg weight Polyester felt (without underlay). The felt has a polyester fibre base layer that makes it much stronger and more tear resistant than non-polyester grades. With more than twice the tear resistance of conventional mineral felt it has a life expectancy of up to 15 years when fitted correctly.
All deliveries are made by vehicles with a crane off-load facility and with an optional professional assembly service. The log cabin must be built upon a solid and level surface such as a poured concrete base. The Welcome Pack has detailed instructions on how to prepare a suitable base.

Supplied Finish & Painting
All the timber in this Log Cabin has been kiln dried to minimise warping and splitting. The floor bearers are pressure treated with an Osmose timber preservative because they will be in contact with the ground. The rest of the structure is supplied untreated. Details of cabin treatment are included in the Welcome pack. Consequently this allows the customer to choose their preferred brand and colour of timber preservative.
For the cabin exterior Forest recommend Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus, Restol Wood Oil, Timmersol ETS Double Protectant, Osmo Country Colour or Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain. Please keep your receipt for whichever of these you use to validate your guarantee. Also note that a suitable interior finish must also be used, Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original and Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection are the only finishes recommended by Forest.
Delivery & Assembly
After you place your order for a Cabin we process your order information and transfer the details to Forest Garden. Within 3-7 days they will issue you with a “Welcome Pack” which will include details on building a suitable base, cabin delivery, assembling the cabin and care of the cabin. It is vital that you follow Forest Garden’s recommendations to ensure the cabin performs to standard
The Log Cabins are delivered to kerbside and in flat pack format for the customer to assemble. All buildings are supplied with detailed Assembly Instructions which can be downloaded from this page in PDF format. Forest Garden also offer a chargeable home assembly service on all log cabins, charges vary from model to model. Their nationwide service is conducted by trained Forest installation teams at an agreed time. Finally, their service is assembly only and does not include laying bases, dismantling or disposal of existing buildings.
Stock Availability
Finally, all these Log cabins are delivered free from their Worcestershire Warehouse, or haulier’s depots direct to the customer’s preferred UK Mainland address. Therefore no Forest Garden Log Cabins are available for collection from our Devon premises.
