25 x 125 (fin.20 x 120) T&G Log Lap Tanalised

Product Code:

CL_L125_TALL

Tanalised 25 x 125 loglap profile

Our exterior 25mm x 150mm log-lap cladding is machined in the UK from quality Scandinavian redwood timber.  It can also be used as a structural flooring providing the joists are spaced no more than 350-400mm apart. TGV cladding can be used in a number of settings including bird-hides, ticket-offices, garden offices and playhouses.  The joints make TGV boards an ideal floor especially where more foot traffic might be experienced. If the need is for cladding, then the ex. 19mm x 100mm TGV might be another option.

This ex.25mm loglap profile has a lap which allows for potential board movement which occurs when timber responds to different weather conditions.  The redwood boards are kiln dried to help improve timber stability. After machining the boards are pressure treated with new generation Tanalith-E preservative.  Applying a waterproof timber treatment on the exterior will help maintain dimensional stability.

T&G boards and Timber framing dimensions

Because of the planed finish this log-lap should really be described as ex. 25mm x ex.125mm, with the size after machining being approximately 20mm x 120mm. Please note that approx. 10mm will be lost in the lapped joint, the dimension  drawing on this page explains much better than mere words. Board length availability can be variable; but the normal range of pack sizes is 3.6/3.9 metres.

Carcassing sizes will largely depend on what you are constructing,  “3 x 2”or “4 x 2” will not add massively to the cost. If you are cladding a building then you might consider using corner profile, providing extra protection against moisture ingress. To make the most of the timber you should apply end-grain preservative treatment. We sell Ronseal’s end grain preservative and they recommend two coats on any cross-cuts. You can then achieve a neater, and more weatherproof, finish by using the Corner profile as well

Tanalith, Pressure Treatment, Tanalised and the Treated-Right Warranty

This product is pressure treated using Next generation TANALITH E wood preservative which provides a 15 year TREATED-RIGHT Performance Warranty against wood decay and insect attack (terms and conditions apply).

One of the conditions of this warranty is that all crosscuts should be protected with end-grain preservative treatment. Our preference is for Ronseal Decking End Grain Protector.

Oil based micro porous wood finishes

All our redwood TGV cladding is pressure treated and will weather to a silvery-grey finish. However, because the pressure treatment is water-based it is not waterproof.  Further protection should be applied depending on the product and it’s use. Loglap cladding used in the construction of a shed may be pressure treated but will need additional protection from moisture penetration. Applying a high-quality water-repellent paint, or oil, will help to seal a timber-clad building. Make sure that joints and fixings such as nails and screws, are well covered. A good microporous finish such as OSMO Country Colour or OSMO Natural Oil Woodstain will help to control the movement of moisture through the timber surface
