125 x 125mm Sawn Pressure Treated Post (FSC® Mix), 3.6m
Sawn timber posts applications include fencing, elevated decks, agricultural buildings, car ports and field gates. Different timber sizes, lengths and treatments are stocked to reflect these options.
125mm x 125mm sawn posts at 2.4 metres and 3.6 metres
Our 125mm square timber posts are pressure-treated with preservatives to protect against fungal and insect attacks. The 2.4 metre lengths are incised posts and are recommended for more demanding installations such as wet ground. These posts are incised to ensure a deeper penetration of timber preservatives, and they are backed up by their Manufacturer’s 15-year Warranty.
Other 125mm cross sections include 3.6 metre posts and if they are in ground contact a longer service life can be achieved by using the Wrap ’n’ Tack Postsaver.
Posts for field and driveway gates
Timber driveway gates and field gates need a substantial, durable ‘hanging’ post the usual choice being 2.4 metres long. As a rule of thumb, the bigger/heavier the gate then the larger the hanging post required. Smaller 3ft. and 4ft. gates are usually matched with a 125mm square post with 800mm in the ground and 1600mmmexposed. More details on gate post sizes can be found here
If you need bespoke sizes we can source sawn posts from douglas fir or larch for you, these are normally machined from unseasoned timber. Bespoke sizes can be obtained but they would be proportionately more expensive
Planed, smooth posts for decks and designer panels.
Other stock timber posts include smooth planed “newel” posts at 1.25m, 1.8m and 2.4 metre lengths. Longer lengths of 100mm planed posts include 3.6m and 4.8m.
