47 x 50mm 4RC Pressure Treated (PEFC Certified) per metre

Our top selling carcassing timbers include 47x50mm, 38x50mm and 47x75mm. This stock is imported from Scandinavia, because of the quality  and reliable supply. The timber is planed-all-round for consistency and easy handling. We deliver to Devon and Cornwall on a regular basis.  Pressure treated with preservative.

Carcassing stock section sizes

We keep large quantities of 47mm carcassing while aiming to rotate stock as quickly as possible.  Incoming carcassing deliveries from Scandinavia are received on a regular basis. Please note that because the imported timber is regularised and planed all-round most of our timber is now 44mm, we continue to use the 47mm terminology because that is what the building trade calls this product.

However, these timbers have to be imported because our UK home-grown timber grows too quickly to achieve the quality required. Our carcassing timber stocks are environmentally certificated, unless marked otherwise. We sell both FSC and PEFC certified timber. Both organisations are dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. The process includes independent timber audits and third-party certification

Carcassing batten lengths

Most of our carcassing timbers are stocked at multiples of 600mm intervals, that is 3.0m, 3.6m, 4.2m, 4.8m, 5.4m and 6.0m. Our 47x50 stocks are normally kept at a 3.6 metres and 4.8 metres. It is possible to check current stock availability by viewing the webpage for the timber you require.  Our stock levels are live, each stock transaction is updated as it happens.

Uses for carcassing timbers

Our carcassing timbers are Kiln Dried (KD) which gives them better stability than unseasoned timber. It is easier and more pleasant to handle than most sawn carcassing. The finish is very similar to CLS timber. All of our carcassing timbers, with the exception of some CLS, is supplied pressure treated.

Popular uses for carcassing includes studwork and counter-battening. If the timbers are exposed then further measures (usually breathable membrane) must be taken to prolong service life.  Again, any cross cuts in timbers should be treated with Ronseal End Grain protector, or preservative for cross cuts in joists should be used.

Other carcassing timbers - 75mm

Additionally we also keep stocks of 75mm timbers in popular sizes, 75 x 100mm (4x3), 75 x 150mm (6x3), 75 x 175mm (7x3), 75 x 200mm (8x3) and 75 x 225mm (9x3). Carcassing lengths for 75mm width timbers are normally stocked at 3.6m, 4.8m and 6.0m.
