HardieSeal Edge Coating Grey Slate, 1.0L

Colour Paints and James Hardie

James Hardie are understandably proud of their ColourPlus™ Technology matched paints. These paints are compatible with the factory finish on the Hardie boards and are essential for the correct and warranted installation of James Hardie cladding materials. These edge coating products must be used to coat any cut ends . This will provide excellent coverage in a single layer and dries quickly.

  • ColourPlus technology for low maintenance

  • JamesHardie supply colour matched external corners

  • They also manufacture and colour matched internal corners

  • Hardie supply, and we stock, colour matched stainless screws

If any coloured trims are scratched or chipped during installation then EdgeSeal must be used to cover the blemish. James Hardie ColourPlus™ Technology finish has involved years of development to produce a durable, low-maintenance finish.  They are so confident that they provide a 15 Year warranty against cracking, chipping and peeling etc. Please see the ColourPlus warranty for more details.

Hardies Grey Colour collection

Grey Colours is one of James Hardie’s five colour collections, probably their most popular as well.  Grey Colours comprises: Anthracite GreyGrey SlateIron GreyMidnight Black and Pearl Grey. Each of these five colours has colour-matched associated products.  Internal and external corners can be used to reinforce the main colour, or ordered as contrasting colours.    Stainless steel screws with colour matched heads are also available from stock.

Application consistency – constant colours

James Hardie’s manufacturing process provides a consistent paint application at the required thickness. Multiple coats of fibre cement paint are applied. Then, when the ColourPlus™ Technology paint finishes are fully cured in a controlled environment and ready for installation.

HardieSeal Edge Coating for small repairs

The HardieSeal Edge Coating paint is matched as closely as possible to its equivalent factory colour.  The colours will never match precisely because the factory applied paint is baked under manufacturing conditions.

These paints are acrylic and the paints are currently available in 21 colours in 1.0 Litre sized tins. (This product was previously known as Touch-Up Paint).

These edge coating paints are required to be used for the correct and warranted installation of HardiePlank. Ideally, they should only be used for painting cut ends to ensure long-lasting performance of the façade.  However, they can also be used for painting small scratches, chips or damage marks on the boards face. It can only be used on marks and chips of 4mm or smaller. The edge coating paint provides excellent coverage in a single layer and dries quickly. Therefore, any surplus paint should be wiped away from the face as soon as possible.

What happens if a colour is discontinued?

In the long-term it is conceivable that some paints, may become discontinued.  If this is the case JamesHardie have advised as follows "Any good quality exterior grade acrylic paint will be fine. Doesn’t need to be for masonry. Try B&Q’s. They use Valspar colour mixers and our coating is manufactured by Valspar. Somebody will need to take a sample in to match though"
