Before and after photos of fencing

Do you have an old garden fence, blowing in the wind? Odds are that it is letting the dog (and the kids) out. But it doesn't have to be that way. More quality fences are coming onto the market, and here are a few ideas if you need to repair your boundary fence this Autumn.

First of all, we have a simple boarded fence which blew down earlier in the year. The customer called in a local contractor (James AA Gordon) and he recommended a new DuraPost fencing system.

Looking at the length of fencing that blew over, the rotten posts can be seen on the right-hand side of the fencing slats.  Durapost were suggested because they manufacture pre-galvanised

    Ordering in metric or imperial?

What size do I order my timber in please?

Anything you like, you can order your carcassing as 2” x 2” timber, or maybe ask for 44mm x 44mm? They are in fact one and the same, see more on 47m carcassing here. Our staff are quite used to mixed sizes and - without thinking – we might suggest you get 2” timber along with a sheet of 18mm ply. For anybody new to the industry it can be tricky, primarily because metrication has been introduced in phases - paper and board in 1971, building regulations in 1972 and cheese wholesaling in 1978.

    Millboard Decking Colours

Before checking the available colours it may be worth remembering the efforts made to make the boards look so lifelike. Moulded from selected oak boards for a textured look and feel, the Millboard decking collection accurately recreates the subtle nuances of natural wood. But how does Millboard decking look so much like real wood?

Firstly, to replicate the wood-look, each board is moulded from specially selected oak “masters”, allowing the capture of the interesting grains, textures and patterns found in timber.  The boards are also hand-coloured at the Warwickshire factory to mimic the unique colours and tones found in every single piece of timber. The relevant grain patterns then help change the board colours to look lighter or darker depending on the viewer’s angle.

Like wood, no two Millboard decking boards are the same colour, with the subtle differences giving the most natural appearance. This is to give your decking all the good looks of a timber deck,
